Not to spoil your fun, but your sugar cravings could indicate an imbalance in your minerals. Get your body in balance, and all kinds of wonderful things happen!
You could learn more from Ann Louise Gittleman's books. She's a ND and full of great info.

Hi - I've been doing a lot of research on bread machines for GF needs.

It sounds like your GF cycle is one of those with a very short RISE time. Check your Baking cycle charts in the manual.

Here's what I find works best...put your ingredients in, and turn it on "dough." This should take about 1.5 hours, and ideally end with a rise, and not a punch down (again, check your cycle chart).

After the RISE, and the dough cycle has ended, start the BAKE cycle. (I hope your machine has both these cycles separated from the others!). Most machines have a preset 60 min bake cycle. Some have 90 minutes, and some allow you to determine the length. Generally, 53 - 60 min is all you need for Bob's mixes. Watch and see what you like. Turn if off if necessary to end the cycle early. Invert the bread pan, and remove it when it falls.

(If your "dough" ends with a punch down, let the dough rise again for an hour before putting it into the "bake" cycle.)

I'll try the whole wheat cycle idea...clever! I'm guessing WW has less rises and kneads than a basic/white cycle.

Thank you for your comments about advertising and getting things for free. I have been perusing a lot of blogs lately partly because I have been needing recipe ideas. I love searching the internet and finding out what other people have done, it saves so much time and mistakes when I am cooking something for the first time. Anyway, I have noticed lately that there are A LOT of ads on people's blogs. It has struck me as odd and a little confusing. I expect ads on corporate websites, but not on personal blogs. I agree with your point about it influencing the level of trust from potential clients.

Thanks for including the devotionals from Dennis and Barbara Rainey, and the compliments that you give to the materials we provide.

I do have one clarification, if you could make that in your post. FamilyLife is not owned by Dennis and Barbara Rainey but is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Dennis and Barbara did cofound the ministry in 1976, and Dennis is still the ministry's president and CEO.

[...] Wow! So that last post generated quite a few emails to me, and I must admit I did not do the best job of tying it all together at the end. Let’s chalk that one up to the fact that this Techchix is a passionate lass who sometimes writes ‘off the cuff’. Funny thing about that is some of you liked it that way… Generally speaking, you need not consider it the ‘norm’ here. [...]

Try Mediteterranean Oganics... they have different varieties and are sooo good, they were my last treasure in building the perfect gf bloody mary.
Ingredients(garlic stuffed):
Organic Green Olives, Organic garlic, water, sea salt, and citric acid.

Good luck!

Oh my- what is your reaction (if I may ask)? If it is laxative in nature, I might suggest another culprit. Guar gum. Guar gum is often added to olives, and coconut milk, and a host of other foods- and- as luck would have it, it acts as a laxative in sensitive individuals.

Guar gum is in the botanical family of legumes as well- so if you are sensitive or allergic to legumes (as I am!)- guar gum might be a big No No!

Sorry you had a mishap!

Thanks for this article - we've been receiving Chet's newsletter for awhile now and recommend him as well.

To answer Brad's first question: Yes, that article does support the claim that coconut oil is "good for you". Coconut Oil is Healthy. In fact, it is really the only oil, besides possibly olive oil, that you should cook with at high heat (others break down, form transfats). Feel free to read our article on coconut oil here:

Thanks again for promoting Chet and health!

My six year old loves the Enjoy Life snack bars. He can't have other brands because of peanut contamination. They look unappealing to me. It seems that young children really enjoy cereal bars (in my experience) so it's worth a try for the young Celiac kids.

This is from the first source you cite:

"Thus, despite similar total saturated fatty acid composition and a
higher total percentage of the cholesterolelevating fatty acids
(lauric, myristic and palmitic acids) in the coconut oil diet
compared with the butter diet, levels of total and low density lipoprotein cholesterol were lower on the oil coconut diet. The data provide confirmation that butter, a source of fat rich in palmitic acid, has a greater hypercholesterolemic effect than coconut oil that is rich in lauric acid.-Cox, C., J.
Mann, W. Sutherland, A. Chishoh, and M. Skeaff

Doesn't this support the claim that coconut oil IS good for you???

Also, what are the studies that detail the effects of UNHYDROGENATED coconut oil? It is very hard to find any that specifically mention the unhydrogenated coconut oil.

YaY! I've been leaning to raw as well - have all the books you could imagine, just not the mindfulness yet. But I'm glad to see another celiac in the mix. I have a google alert for all things gluten and found your blog. I look forward to reading your recommended site.

Next after raw and if you aren't familiar already (just popping in, I don't "know" where you've been and all): check out www.bodyecology.com and the B.E.D. (Body Ecology Diet). This author discusses what's "wrong" and "right" with different diets including raw. It gave me something to think about: fermented foods, and well, "body ecology!"

Best to you on this new journey. I look forward to your future entries.

I am honored to be your favorite gluten-free goddess. ;) It's actually rather pathetic that a blogger would cut and paste the work of others and present it as their own. It publicly demonstrates their painful lack of creativity, vision or even original thought. Sad.

Welcome to Raw...I can't wait to check out your Raw blog. I can appreciate what you wrote about loving to cook and prepare food. I come from a restaurant background and was raised playing in the kitchen with my mom. When I went vegan and then Raw, I knew I wanted to still spend time in the kitchen. What I've learned is that although many Raw recipes don't take long to make, I am able to play and experience delicious flavors - only now their Fresh, Vibrant, Raw and Alive. I have a couple of Raw recipes on my blog you might be interested in trying.....delicious flavors from Morocco and Italy.

Cheers!

I only wish my Creative Commons logo and link (which I've always had on my page) had kept that jerk from ripping off my recipe/s! I'm going to have to start putting a copyright notice at the end of every blog post, which is annoying. People stink sometimes :-(

I am glad that I am not the only one that doesn't particularly like these snack bars. I was lucky to get some samples directly from Enjoy Life, so I am glad I didn't pay for them. Not my favorite at all. I prefer the Glutino breakfast bars in apple or raspberry instead. The texture is much better, as is the flavor.

That's some great news! I love how they have a gluten free menu. I'm seeing lots of restaurants doing that now and it's very reassuring to see. Of course, the "order without bun and sauce" for the burgers is a bit of a cop out, but at least they list it as an option.

Naomi, thanks for saying hello! I am not the lady you remember, but you could find her thru googling the term gluten freedom. I had no idea she had that trademarked - and I can hear my lawyer sister scolding me. So, now I've fixed by "byline" on the site.

Glad you're exploring raw foods. I must admit it is interesting and thought-provoking.

hey! Noticed you're GF, too! Thought perhaps I knew you... I know a lady who uses the name Gluten Freedom (trademarked), and thought perhaps I finally found her site.

If not, nice to meet you! I've been playing with raw foods, too and am beginning to wonder if I mightn't like to try giving it a serious go.

For now, I'm just having lots of fun learning.

Best regards,'Naomi Poe

[...] Alas, it was not meant to be. At least right now in my life. I instead satisfy my need to bake with my lovely breadmaker instead. One note for all, I have discovered that my perfect little GF Breadmaker, does not cook GF bread mixes very well on the GF cycle. Strange, I know. Instead, I put Bob’s Red Mill on the Whole Wheat cycle and it turns out perfect every time. (No idea why.) It still works better than the last 2 breadmakers and I happily put out 1 or 2 loaves each week for sandwiches. Imagine that! ME! Eating sandwiches on a regular basis. (I love it best toasted with butter….mmmmmmmmmm) [...]

[...] Let’s look back at one of my favorite posts recently where my delightful hubby splurged on a GF breadmaker for me. (Isn’t he the best??!?!) Part of that purchase included some Bob’s Mill GF Bread Mix - not just any mix, mind you. It was the GF Hearty Whole Grain Bread Mix and WOW you will enjoy this bread. My husband greatly desired that I make homemade-ish bread that we could both eat and enjoy. This bread actually tastes great and has the hearty goodness of a traditional whole grain bread. Best of all, it does not appear to spike hubby’s blood sugar - which is important for all those diabetics out there. [...]

Your husband has shared a winner! This recipe sounds uber-yummy and I can't wait to try it. I love the idea of the garlic and mushrooms. Yes.

Thank you for posting such a yummy recipe. You are a sweetheart [and so is your husband!].
