Fellow GF blogger Karina started a google group which fielded a terrific question recently. For those of you not privy to this group, I wanted to publish my answer because it never occurred to me to share it with you – my apologies!
The question was posed – how do I travel and eat GF when I have almost no access to a kitchen for myself?
As I travel a fair amount, I had an answer… Here is a my standard “travel kit” so that I can eat GF and still feel good while away from home!
* GF brown rice, rice cakes
* GF natural peanut butter
* plastic silverware
* roll of paper towels
* assorted fruit (apples, asian pears, bananas)
* container of mixed nuts
* small baggies of GF cereal to snack on (you can usually get a cup or bowl of milk at a restaurant)
* my own bottles of filtered water from home (I found 32 oz Lexan – the hard/safe plastic containers – which I put a few in the cooler and the rest go in my recycled materials bag from MOM’s market)
* GF potato chips (for that salty snack)
* MOM’s market (www.myorganicmarket.com) has GF energy snacks made out of carob and different nuts and dried fruits (GREAT food for the road)
